The Smartest Baby

I am an advocate for people to be playful, independent learners. In this series of posts that I'm calling "The Smartest Baby on the Block" I will be exploring the value of early childhood play. Among other things, readers will learn what play looks like, what science looks like, and what learning science through play looks like for young people and all people.

“Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under thy observation in life.” Marcus Aurelius
"The mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity." mihaly csikszentmihalyi

“Play is that absorbing activity in which healthy young children participate with enthusiasm and abandon.” Jill Englebright Fox

Science Smarts
“Natural science, does not simply describe and explain nature; it is part of the interplay between nature and ourselves.” Werner Heisenberg
“Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one’s living at it.” Albert Einstein

“The child amidst his baubles is learning the action of light, motion, gravity, muscular force…”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

- People are Basically Good and Smart
Technology is nothing. What's important is that you have a faith in people, that they're basically good and smart, and if you give them tools, they'll do wonderful things with them. - Steve Jobs
