Meeow, the Maker

When I first read the title of these books I felt skeptical. Someone named a cat "Meeow" (and a cow "Moo" and a sheep "Baa")? But it turned out that those names made perfect sense to my children. Plus, those simple, sensible names did not get in the way of the story. In fact, simple and sensible seem to be the theme in these books by Sebastien Braun.

In each book Meeow and his friends use their imagination to transform everyday household items into something they are not. A blue table becomes a castle. Pots and pans become musical instruments. Chairs become a train. A box becomes a fire truck. Through simple language and drawings, the author makes imaginative tinkering/building/making seem as simple and sensible as child's play.

These books can reside alongside Rosie Revere, Engineer. In fact, Meeow can join the ranks of little engineers everywhere.
